Legal Counsel – Financial Services

About the role

Help Build the Future of Financial Services. We are looking for a business‑minded Legal Counsel to drive innovation while managing legal and regulatory risk, partnering with leaders across the organisation to support the launch and growth of financial products.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor on corporate, commercial, banking, regulatory and tax matters.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide timely guidance on emerging laws and industry requirements.
• Conduct legal research and deliver risk‑based recommendations to support decision‑making and compliance.
• Support engagement with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.
• Partner with Finance on tax matters, corporate transactions, funding initiatives and other financial requirements.
• Provide legal support for strategic projects such as lending programmes, treasury initiatives, payment solutions and credit‑card products.
• Review, draft, negotiate and manage commercial agreements and corporate documentation.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify legal and regulatory risks and enable business objectives.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in good standing with experience in corporate, banking, financial services or fintech.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracting, banking regulations, tax law and corporate governance.
• Proven ability to advise on corporate transactions, financial services matters and tax‑related issues.
• Commercially sound legal advice that balances risk management with business goals.
• Excellent stakeholder management, analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to simplify complex legal, regulatory and tax issues into clear recommendations.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
• High professional integrity, sound judgement and attention to detail.
