Legal Counsel – Energy Operations

About the role

The Legal Counsel – Energy Operations will provide day‑to‑day legal advice to the Operations & Maintenance teams of SNAP power generation companies and support corporate functions on matters that affect business continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver legal support to Operations & Maintenance, ensuring activities comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts and agreements for operational and support groups such as insurance, finance, HR, procurement and administration.
• Monitor regulatory developments in energy, taxation, labor, occupational health & safety, environment, land and indigenous peoples’ rights, and ensure compliance.
• Manage legal risk assessments, develop compliance frameworks, policies and procedures, and respond to violation notices.
• Represent the company in litigation, disputes, and proceedings before courts, regulatory agencies and the Energy Regulatory Commission, leading case preparation and settlement negotiations.
• Engage with government agencies, regulators, local authorities and indigenous communities to maintain constructive relationships.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of legal practice, preferably in energy, utilities or infrastructure.
• Experience supporting operations and maintenance teams, handling contract administration, labor law, occupational health & safety and environmental compliance.
• Background in regulatory matters involving government agencies, local units and indigenous peoples’ rights.
• Proven track record in dispute resolution and litigation.
