Legal Business Partner – Renewable Energy

About the role

The Legal Business Partner will serve as the primary legal advisor for MTerra Solar, overseeing all legal, regulatory and compliance matters across its renewable-energy projects. You will shape legal strategy, protect commercial interests and ensure the company operates within the evolving framework of energy law.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across projects and operations.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage EPC agreements, power purchase agreements, land acquisition/lease contracts, O&M contracts and vendor agreements.
• Support project teams during bidding, tendering and execution phases.
• Monitor changes in renewable-energy policies, environmental regulations, labor laws and corporate governance standards.
• Liaise with regulators, government authorities and external counsel.
• Oversee corporate secretarial functions, board meetings, statutory filings and compliance with the Companies Act.
• Manage litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution, coordinating with external counsel and controlling costs.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of legal experience, preferably in renewable energy, infrastructure, power or EPC sectors.
• Proven track record in contracts, regulatory compliance and corporate governance.
• Experience interacting with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated leadership of legal teams and management of external counsel.
