Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Library & Information Science

About the role

The School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry at Curtin University is recruiting two academic staff members – a Senior Lecturer (ALC level) and a Lecturer (ALB level) – to strengthen its Library and Information Science, and Recordkeeping and Archives programmes. The positions will be based in Perth, Western Australia and will focus on delivering high‑quality postgraduate teaching and research.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate postgraduate teaching and research courses across Library and Information Science and Recordkeeping & Archives.
• Engage and collaborate with industry partners, national and state organisations, and research end‑users.
• Support work‑integrated learning opportunities for students.
• Contribute to the development and leadership of research and teaching programmes in the discipline areas.
• Supervise PhD and Master’s students.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualification (e.g., PhD) in Library and Information Science, Recordkeeping, Archives or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in higher‑education teaching, with a focus on postgraduate delivery.
• For the Senior Lecturer role, a strong research record and ability to attract external funding.
• For the Lecturer role, a teaching‑focused clinical professional background.
• Ability to build partnerships with industry and community organisations.

Required skills

• Expertise in Library and Information Science.
• Knowledge of Recordkeeping and Archives practices.
