Junior Associate Lawyer (Underbar)

About the role

de Guzman Mayuga is seeking a Junior Associate Lawyer (also referred to as an Underbar Associate) to join its Makati office. This full‑time, on‑site position will support multiple practice groups by conducting legal research, drafting documents, and assisting senior lawyers on client matters.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and produce clear memoranda on statutes, case law, and regulations.
• Draft pleadings, contracts, legal opinions, and correspondence with high accuracy.
• Review, organize, and manage client documents for due‑diligence and transaction work.
• Support the preparation of legal strategies and assist in the coordination of client matters.
• Prepare for and attend hearings, client conferences, and meetings as required.
• Ensure timely filing and proper documentation of all case materials.

Required profile

• Law degree (LLB or JD) from an accredited institution; bar passer or bar candidate strongly preferred.
• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Attention to detail in drafting contracts, pleadings, and opinions.
• Interest or background in corporate, commercial, and regulatory law; litigation exposure is a plus.
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High integrity, professional ethics, and respect for confidentiality.
• Organizational and time‑management skills to handle multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment.
• Comfort with office and legal technology tools and willingness to learn new systems.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently.
