IT Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

SmartWorks is seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist to join its fully remote, research‑driven team. You will support the company’s hosted client applications, internal R&D systems, and a variety of departmental needs, ensuring reliable operation across Linux, database, and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage SmartWorks hosted client application systems, R&D development platforms, databases, networking, and storage.
• Provide primary operating system and database support for customers.
• Develop and maintain automated unit test suites and QA infrastructure.
• Perform bug fixes, source code maintenance, and design testing plans.
• Collaborate with sales to supply technical details for proposals.
• Remotely install and configure hardware, OS, and database platforms during implementation projects.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production‑environment experience.
• College diploma or university degree in computer science or a related technical field.
• Strong background supporting Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and relational databases.
• Experience with network administration, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Proficiency with cloud‑based virtual systems, networking, and storage.
