Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Manulife is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer in Makati City, within its global team. The role sits in a supportive, collaborative workplace with great teams and inspiring leaders, and involves working closely with software engineers, product owners and other teams in an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with software engineers to establish best practices for development, testing and delivery.
• Work with other teams to drive innovative solutions that meet business needs.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and other stakeholders in an Agile environment.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies, prototype to gain customer insights and build proof of concept to incorporate new technology.
• Mentor co-op students.

Required profile

• At least 3-5 years of experience in frontend and backend technologies.
• Experience with databases such as MongoDB and SQL.
• Experience with frameworks and API/service layers such as Spring Boot, Swagger, Node/Express.
• Familiarity with NewRelic and Kibana.
• Good foundation in test-driven development (Jasmine, Jest, Mocha, JUnit, Mockito).
• Good foundation in CSS best practices and frameworks such as Material UI, BEM, SMACSS, Flexbox and CSS Grid.
• Adherence to web standards, accessibility (ARIA, WCAG) and a solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and OO design.
• Familiarity with agile, DevOps, CI/CD and the software development lifecycle.
• Collaborative attitude, willingness to coach, participate in code reviews and share skills.

Required skills

• Frontend: HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular 2+, React.
• Backend: Node.js, Express, Spring Boot (RestTemplate, FeignClient, Zuul, Sleuth/Zipkin, Hystrix, Maven), Swagger.
• Databases: MongoDB, SQL, relational and document database interfaces.
• APIs: REST, SOAP, API gateways, messaging, distributed tracing.
• Preferred: PaaS and microservices, Agile Scrum, Slack, Skype, JIRA, SonarQube, Fortify, WebInspect, PCF.
