Full Professorship – Open Science

About the role

The Department of Library and Information Science at Humboldt‑Universität zu Berlin invites applications for a W2 Full Professorship in Open Science, starting 1 October 2026. The position focuses on the digital transformation of scholarly information infrastructures and the sociotechnical processes that underpin Open Science.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead research programmes on information infrastructures for Open Science, covering theory and applied topics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Library and Information Science, Open Access, and related subjects.
• Secure and manage third‑party funded research projects.
• Contribute to departmental governance and curriculum development.
• Collaborate with national and international partners on standards, policies, and reforms for Open Science.

Required profile

• Completed doctoral degree with habilitation‑equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated expertise in Open Science, research data management, open access, digital scholarly communication, and related areas.
• Proven teaching experience at the higher‑education level.
• Successful track record in acquiring and managing externally funded research.
• Willingness to engage in academic self‑governance.
