Food Assistant (Restaurant)

About the role

Reporting to the Restaurant Manager, the Food Assistant works in the IKEA store restaurant to welcome visitors, encourage longer stays and provide a pleasant dining experience. The role focuses on delivering friendly service, promoting food offers and supporting the overall store atmosphere.

Key responsibilities

• Engage customers with a smile, ensuring they feel welcome and motivated to return.
• Promote and serve food items, sharing product knowledge about origins and benefits.
• Monitor top‑selling products, support range changes and maintain readiness of the service area.
• Contribute to the department’s action plan and in‑store activities, providing input on range and pricing based on local competition.
• Follow internal rules, policies and daily operational routines set by management.
• Execute store operations in line with Functional Commercial Review standards.

Required profile

• Sales‑driven and passionate about food and people.
• Experience in food management or the food industry, with willingness to learn new skills.
• Enjoy working in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Service‑oriented with a strong customer focus.
• Flexible, open to change and able to take personal initiative.
• Confident in approaching and talking to people in a friendly manner.
• Attention to detail and good communication and interpersonal skills.
