Financial Controller (Hospitality / Restaurant)

About the role

The Financial Controller will oversee outsourced accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and close cycles for a fast‑growing hospitality and restaurant business. Working remotely, you will ensure accurate, timely financial data across multiple units and locations while leading an outsourced accounting team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, delivering clean, reviewed financial statements to corporate leadership.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries for accruals, inventory, depreciation, and operational activities.
• Maintain and reconcile inventory accounting entries, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage fixed‑asset schedules, recording additions, disposals, and depreciation accurately.
• Complete and review regulatory filings such as sales & use tax, excise tax, food & beverage tax, and shipping reports.
• Ensure compliance deadlines are met and documentation is organized for audits.
• Provide variance analysis and explanatory notes for financial results.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial reporting, month‑end close, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of inventory and fixed‑asset accounting.
• Ability to lead and hold an outsourced accounting team accountable.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
