Facade Designer/Engineer (Remote, Philippines)

About the role

Hunt St helps Australian companies hire remote talent in the Philippines. This is a senior technical position for an experienced facade professional, engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. The client is a specialist contractor in the commercial construction sector, delivering high-performance exterior building solutions. The engineer acts as the offshore technical authority across the project portfolio, leading window and facade system design and compliance with Australian Standards, working alongside the Operations Manager and the Australia-based Project Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead window and facade system design across all projects, from concept through to shop drawings and fabrication-ready documentation.
• Produce and mark up detailed technical drawings in AutoCAD to a professional standard.
• Own design compliance against Australian Standards, including AS 2047, AS 1288, AS 4284 and AS/NZS 1170.
• Interrogate architectural and structural documentation and turn design intent into compliant, manufacturable systems.
• Review supplier fabrication documentation and resolve technical queries directly with Chinese manufacturers.
• Apply practical judgement on fabrication and onsite installation requirements so designs are buildable and installable.
• Travel to China to visit suppliers, review samples and inspect fabrication when required.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and the project team via Teams.

Required profile

• Substantial, demonstrable experience in window and facade system design within commercial construction.
• Ability to lead a technical scope independently and be accountable for design outcomes.
• Practical understanding of window system fabrication and onsite installation from real project delivery.
• Excellent written and spoken English, confident in video discussions with clients and project teams.
• Willingness to travel to China as required.
• Direct experience coordinating Chinese aluminium and glazing manufacturers.
• Experience with curtain wall, structural glazing and aluminium systems beyond windows.
• Relevant engineering qualification in a related discipline.

Required skills

• Advanced AutoCAD proficiency (essential)
• Knowledge of Australian Standards for windows and facades
• Familiarity with M365 and SharePoint for project collaboration

The engagement is remote, with a schedule aligned to Australian business hours (about 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) while contractors manage their own time. Candidates must disclose any other ongoing roles and mark the engagement as "Independent Contractor" on their LinkedIn profile. The pay is stated as AUD 2,500 per month.
