About the role

MBM Contracting Inc. is looking for a detail‑oriented Estimator to join its construction team. The Estimator will develop and manage comprehensive cost estimates throughout all design phases, providing critical cost guidance to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an estimate plan, break work into packages, and delegate estimating tasks internally or to third‑party firms.
• Create and maintain the Basis of Estimate (BOE) document, capturing scope, assumptions, exclusions, risks and execution strategy.
• Perform material take‑offs from drawings to validate design quantities.
• Produce cost estimates ranging from rough‑order‑of‑magnitude to definitive, bottom‑up figures and align them with scheduling and construction plans.
• Identify design growth, apply appropriate allowances, and convert estimates into unit rates for internal benchmarking.
• Support funding requests by preparing cost information for management review.
• Collaborate with project managers on risk identification and contingency development.
• Conduct quality reviews of subcontractor submissions and ensure completeness.
• Contribute to the development of estimating processes, templates, metrics and benchmarks.
• Track estimate performance and work with finance to summarize results.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to estimate projects from initial client reports through fully completed documents.
• Experience organizing and interpreting client‑supplied bid forms.
• Strong collaboration skills with engineers, project managers and clients.
