Estimator – Australian Construction Experience

About the role

Our client, a reputable building company in Sydney, is looking for an experienced Estimator/Project Coordinator with 4‑6 years of Australian construction experience. The role is full‑time, offering flexibility to work from home or the office, and focuses on delivering accurate estimates and tight project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare precise trade takeoffs and material quantifications from digital plans, diagnostic reports and engineering specifications.
• Manage tender bids from query to submission, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Develop detailed scopes of work to eliminate grey areas and prevent post‑contract variations.
• Use pricing databases validated against live quotes from Sydney suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct apples‑for‑apples quote comparisons and evaluate variations and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with the NCC, BCA and relevant Australian Standards (AS3740, AS3600, AS1684).
• Price specialised items such as HBCF insurance, council/DA/CDC conditions and long‑service levies.
• Estimate demolition, hazardous material handling, structural propping and make‑good costs.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of estimating experience in the Australian residential, renovation or commercial sector.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on zero‑variance financial accuracy.
• Ability to coordinate site inspections and work closely with the Australian team.

Required skills

• Construction estimating and tender management.
• Proficiency with cost‑estimating software and pricing databases.
• In‑depth knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards (AS3740, AS3600, AS1684).
• Experience with demolition, asbestos removal and hazardous material handling estimation.
• Ability to price commercial‑grade materials and specialised trades.
