ESD Technician

About the role

The ESD Technician is responsible for ensuring that all electrostatic discharge (ESD) control equipment used in a semiconductor fab operates within calibrated specifications. This role supports product quality and safety by maintaining a reliable ESD protected environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform calibration and functional testing of wrist straps, foot straps, ESD mats, ionizers, monitors and other sensitive devices.
• Maintain and calibrate precision measuring instruments with traceability to NIST or equivalent standards.
• Conduct routine inspections and audits of ESD protected areas (EPAs) to verify compliance with semiconductor industry requirements.
• Document calibration data accurately and update the calibration database in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality and production teams to troubleshoot ESD‑related issues.
• Support and deliver ESD awareness training for personnel.
• Adhere strictly to cleanroom protocols and safety regulations while performing all tasks.

Required profile

• BS in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical or related technical field; associate degree or certification in electronics/metrology preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in calibration and ESD control within a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI/ESD S20.20, SEMI standards and cleanroom practices.
• Experience using calibration software and managing calibration documentation in a regulated setting.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
