Equipment Technician III

About the role

Microchip Technology is seeking an experienced Equipment Technician III to ensure production equipment runs smoothly and meets quality standards. The role involves hands‑on setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a variety of assembly machines.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, repair, and monitor production equipment to guarantee continuous operation.
• Provide daily or shift reports to the Equipment Engineer.
• Maintain up‑to‑date preventive‑maintenance (PM) and calibration records.
• Collaborate with operators and engineering to resolve machine‑related quality issues.
• Update downtime and uptime data using R7, R8, and PPMS systems.
• Participate actively in AM‑PM and 5S improvement programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Assembly Line Sustaining Technician.
• Experience with equipment used for QFN, TQFP, and SOIC package assembly.
• Knowledge of quality systems such as TS16949 and HSPM.
• Familiarity with failure‑analysis techniques.
• Ability to manage workload, multitask, and respond to off‑hours calls.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word and MS Excel.
• Experience using R7, R8, and PPMS reporting tools.
• Hands‑on expertise with Backgrind, Wafer Saw, DA, WB, molding, plating, marking, and packing machines.
• Understanding of TS16949 and HSPM quality standards.
• Failure analysis techniques.
