Equipment Technician I

About the role

Microchip Technology is seeking an Equipment Technician I to provide technical support for test operations and ensure equipment readiness for production. The role focuses on setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting test hardware while adhering to quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the set‑up of test equipment (testers, contactors/pins, handlers, hardware) according to production requirements.
• Verify that all test equipment is in good condition before production start‑up.
• Collaborate with technicians, supervisors and engineers to monitor equipment performance and meet departmental goals.
• Support overall equipment effectiveness metrics such as utilization, MTBF/MTTR, availability, efficiency, yield and quality.
• Ensure compliance with quality system procedures, control plans, setup controls and correlation specifications.
• Participate in 5S activities and quality system audits within the assigned area.
• Execute preventive‑maintenance tasks as defined in PM specifications.
• Escalate major technical issues to shift leaders and follow standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
• Willingness to work in a production environment and adhere to safety guidelines.

Required skills

• Test equipment operation and setup (tester, contactor/pins, handler, hardware).
• Preventive maintenance execution.
• Quality system compliance and audit participation.
• 5S methodology implementation.
• MTBF/MTTR analysis and equipment performance monitoring.
