Engineer II – Equipment

About the role

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Engineer II – Equipment to join its manufacturing team. The role focuses on overseeing equipment, tooling, and assembly line operations, ensuring reliable production and supporting major equipment downtime when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, report on, and supervise systems, equipment, jigs, tooling, logistics, and assembly lines at front‑of‑line, end‑of‑line, and test stations.
• Provide technical support during major equipment downtime events.
• Manage preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration programs, ensuring schedules are executed.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and process documentation for parts, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies.
• Coordinate with process and design engineering to release new products and equipment.
• Estimate manufacturing costs, set time standards, and recommend tooling or equipment upgrades.
• Maintain records and reporting systems for manufacturing operations.

Required profile

• Education in Electronics/Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation & Control, or related engineering discipline.
• Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes and sequences.
• Ability to interface with engineering teams for product releases.
• Strong analytical skills for cost estimation and time‑standard development.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
