Database CloudOps Engineer – PostgreSQL

About the role

We are looking for a Database CloudOps Engineer specialized in PostgreSQL to join Salmon’s fast‑growing fintech platform in Southeast Asia. You will own the operation, scaling and optimisation of a high‑throughput database serving millions of transactions daily.

Key responsibilities

• Support and administer a high‑load PostgreSQL database handling ~20,000 transactions per minute.
• Design and execute zero‑downtime migrations using Terraform‑managed AWS RDS/Aurora.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimise queries and indexes.
• Collaborate with developers on database architecture, schema design and query optimisation.
• Maintain PostgreSQL infrastructure on AWS, including Aurora, RDS and related services.
• Participate in incident response, performance monitoring and capacity planning.
• Contribute to new projects involving database design and data pipelines.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, replication and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with large‑scale data systems, ETL pipelines or distributed back‑ends.
• Solid understanding of SQL performance tuning, schema design and transaction management.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux, monitoring tools and automation scripting.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Aurora, RDS, Redshift and Kafka/Debezium connectors.
• Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git and container technologies.
