Construction Manager – Wind Turbine Projects

About the role

We are looking for an experienced On‑Site Construction Manager to lead the erection of utility‑scale wind turbines. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, crane operators and civil contractors to deliver safe, on‑time construction that meets all technical and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and approve lifting and erection schemes for turbine components, ensuring technical feasibility and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with civil contractors on crane hard‑standing design, load‑bearing verification, surface preparation and drainage.
• Perform or review crane load calculations, ground bearing pressure assessments and outrigger pad sizing.
• Supervise heavy‑lift operations, including crawler and mobile crane mobilization, positioning and rigging.
• Prepare and review construction documentation such as Lifting Plans, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Work Procedures.
• Monitor construction progress, identify issues early and work with turbine suppliers, subcontractors and third‑party crane companies to resolve them.
• Ensure all lifting activities comply with international standards (e.g., ASME B30, EN 13000) and conduct pre‑lift meetings and toolbox talks.
• Maintain accurate site records, daily reports and support the QHSE team in enforcing safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 + years of construction management experience on wind farms or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Hands‑on experience with heavy‑lift and turbine erection works.
• Proven ability to evaluate crane lifting schemes and hard‑standing designs.
• Familiarity with international lifting standards and safety regulations.

Required skills

• Crane load calculation methods and use of manufacturer load charts (e.g., Liebherr, Manitowoc, XCMG, SANY).
• Hard‑standing design and ground bearing pressure assessment.
• Preparation and review of Lifting Plans, Method Statements, ITPs and Risk Assessments.
• Heavy‑lift supervision and rigging coordination.
• Knowledge of ASME B30, EN 13000 or equivalent standards.
