Collections Officer – Business Accounts

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Collections Officer to manage overdue repayments from business customers of an innovative Australian fintech. You will handle a portfolio of arrears, negotiate payment arrangements and ensure accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customers with accounts in arrears, tracking overdue repayments and following up payment commitments.
• Contact customers via telephone, email and approved channels to collect outstanding amounts and negotiate payment arrangements.
• Issue customer notices accurately and within required timeframes.
• Respond to email correspondence promptly, accurately and professionally.
• Investigate and resolve account queries and disputes, escalating when necessary.
• Maintain accurate records of collections activity, communications and payment arrangements.
• Build respectful customer relationships that support effective collections and retention.
• Collaborate with sales, customer service and internal teams to resolve issues.
• Contribute to improvements in collections processes and performance.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ business collections experience.
• Confident spoken and written English.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to handle difficult conversations respectfully.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Professional, respectful and customer‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
