Backend Developer

About the role

Avvoka is looking for a Backend Developer to help build the backbone of its next‑generation legal drafting platform. You will work on high‑impact projects, shaping the codebase and influencing product direction while collaborating with a fast‑moving engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Ruby on Rails features used daily by users.
• Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and performance monitoring.
• Identify bottlenecks, optimise system performance and plan for scalability.
• Monitor metrics and logs to proactively detect and resolve issues.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct workshops, and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Prioritise technical debt and feature requests to maximise impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
• Strong understanding of web application architecture, RESTful APIs, and database design.
• Hands‑on experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑based deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to optimise performance and scale applications.
