Access Control Technician

About the role

The Access Control Technician supports the security technology infrastructure by provisioning, installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software systems such as security alarms, access control, key management, and radio communications. The role ensures that all security solutions operate securely and efficiently for staff, volunteers, and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain security alarm, access control, key management, and TETRA radio systems.
• Administer security databases, photo ID generation, and web‑portal support.
• Perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) for devices and handle configuration change requests.
• Conduct troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, patches, and upgrades.
• Coordinate with vendors, technical teams, and the security department to resolve outages and escalations.
• Document procedures, maintain SOPs, and compile metric reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in customer service, security, IT, electronics, or automation.
• College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Automation Engineering or related field (preferred).
• Experience administering security technologies (access control, alarm, key management) is preferred.

Required skills

• Security alarm, access control, and key management system administration.
• TETRA radio system configuration and messaging.
• Database management, backup, and macro programming.
• Computer hardware, software, WAN/LAN networking, and MS Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of security systems, network/OS administration, and application support.
