Software Development Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, self‑driven Software Development Engineer to join Comet Backup’s product team. The role is fully remote and open to candidates based in the Philippines, working on a backup software product used by thousands of businesses worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy end‑to‑end features across a codebase that includes Go, C++ and TypeScript.
• Perform hard debugging across macOS, Linux and Windows platforms.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews and mentor teammates.
• Build and maintain desktop applications (Qt is a plus) and integrate with virtualised environments such as VMware, Hyper‑V, Proxmox or Docker.
• Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and optimise databases like MySQL and MongoDB.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong ability to work independently and communicate clearly in English.
• Fluency with AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and the judgment to review and test generated code.
