Second Engineer – Marine Vessel (SF)

About the role

Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. is seeking a qualified Second Engineer to join the engine department of its advanced container vessels. The role involves ensuring safe, reliable operation of ship machinery and supporting the Chief Engineer in maintaining high performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor vessel machinery to guarantee safe and reliable performance.
• Maintain all equipment in the engine room and on deck according to the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and Chief Engineer directives.
• Instruct and supervise crew in the use of safety, environmental protection, firefighting and lifesaving equipment.
• Prepare and monitor work plans for engineers and engine ratings.
• Conduct briefings and debriefings to promote effective teamwork.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months sea‑time in the rank of Second Engineer.
• At least one contract as Senior Engineer with experience on Unified Machinery System (UMS) and 20,000 BHP engine types.
• Commitment to health, safety, diversity and inclusion standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Preventive Maintenance System (PMS).
• Experience operating Unified Machinery System (UMS) on high‑power marine engines.
• Knowledge of 20,000 BHP engine operation and maintenance.
• Familiarity with marine safety, environmental protection, firefighting and lifesaving equipment.
