About the role

The Family Practitioner will deliver comprehensive primary care to the residents of Cortes Island, providing longitudinal and culturally safe access to health services. This position supports both part‑time and full‑time arrangements within a modern rural clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient consultations, examinations, and urgent medical assessments.
• Provide same‑day access, addictions medicine, and primary reproductive care.
• Perform minor medical procedures and manage chronic diseases.
• Ensure ongoing monitoring, follow‑up care, and coordination with community health resources.
• Participate in community health initiatives and support the local First Nations population.

Required profile

• Medical licence to practice in British Columbia.
• Commitment to delivering primary care in a rural setting.
• Willingness to work part‑time or full‑time as needed.
• Ability to provide culturally safe care for diverse populations.

• Recruitment incentive up to $20,000 (full‑time equivalent).
• Relocation reimbursement up to $15,000.
• Retention premium of 16.07% and annual flat fee of $24,896.16.
