Director of Events

About the role

The Director of Events will lead all catering and group sales activities within the hotel, overseeing the entire event lifecycle from initial booking through flawless execution. This senior position works closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing to align financial forecasts and strategic plans, ensuring the department meets its revenue and service goals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of catering and group sales, from client acquisition to event delivery.
• Prepare and monitor departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost‑control measures.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships before, during, and after events to drive repeat business.
• Conduct site inspections and lead sales activities as needed.
• Collaborate with Sales & Marketing to produce monthly forecasts and an annual business plan.
• Achieve banquet and catering budget targets set in the hotel’s yearly plan.
• Evaluate performance of Event Managers and Executives, applying corrective actions per HR policy.
• Ensure staffing levels match business volume and promote a sales‑focused culture among all team members.
• Coach, counsel, and train staff regularly to enhance performance and guest satisfaction.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in hotel events, catering, or banquet operations.
• Strong background in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost management.
• Excellent client‑relationship skills with a track record of generating repeat business.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of event professionals.
• Collaborative mindset to work closely with sales, marketing, and other hotel departments.
