Specialist GBS Cost Engineering (Malaysia/Philippines)

About the role

The Specialist GBS Cost Engineering role supports BHP’s large‑scale projects by developing and maintaining original budgets, tracking commitments, and managing cost performance. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects stay on‑budget and deliver value.

Key responsibilities

• Engage proactively with stakeholders, gather feedback and communicate cost‑related information.
• Develop cost‑engineering methodologies, strategies and systems for major capital programmes.
• Create and maintain original budgets using cost estimates time‑phased against baseline schedules.
• Predict and mitigate potential cost impacts through change‑management processes.
• Implement and forecast contingency plans to influence on‑budget delivery.
• Maintain a current overall project forecast, including owner and contractor costs, in the cost‑engineering application system.
• Track actual commitments, estimate accruals and convert forecasts using published exchange‑rate protocols.
• Provide cost‑estimating input and monitor actual costs during execution.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of cost engineering principles and project budgeting.
• Experience with project cost control, forecasting and contingency management.
• Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
