Senior Travel Consultant

About the role

The Senior Travel Consultant will support SMEC Global and ANZ Operations by planning, coordinating and booking business travel arrangements for SMEC resources. The role also assists in implementing, integrating and maintaining travel‑related systems and platforms such as EBS Expense, travel and credit‑card programs, mobile communications, fleet and Uber services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain office systems and processes for the Global Travel Group.
• Act as liaison between SMEC, internal travelers and travel vendors.
• Consult internal clients via phone or email to understand travel requirements.
• Advise on suitable domestic and international destinations, tours, accommodation, transport, insurance and fares.
• Create customised itineraries that match client preferences and budgets.
• Make and confirm bookings using Sabre GDS or CTM Lightning booking tool.
• Provide up‑to‑date advice on visa, medical, baggage, safety and local customs.
• Research and recommend optimal travel options, modify bookings as needed.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of personal details and itineraries.
• Support business improvement initiatives, recommend tools for efficiency and cost savings, manage escalations and produce performance analytics.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in corporate travel consulting.
• Proven ability to liaise effectively with internal clients and external vendors.
• Strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Capability to research destinations and stay current with travel industry news.

Required skills

• Experience with Global Distribution System (GDS) such as Sabre.
• Familiarity with CTM Lightning booking tool.
• Knowledge of EBS Expense system.
