Process Engineer – Material Qualification

About the role

onsemi is looking for a hands‑on Process Engineer to lead material qualification projects for alternate suppliers and conversion initiatives. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure new materials meet reliability and quality standards while supporting cost‑effective sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with Procurement to qualify lower‑cost alternate suppliers and initiate technical design reviews.
• Generate purchase requests, manage first‑article inspection (FAI) samples, and coordinate with IQC for material inspection.
• Develop and maintain Change Action Board (CAB) documentation, conduct technical peer reviews, and drive CAB approvals.
• Submit reliability test requests, manage engineering build requests (EBR), and collect ALR data for safe‑launch activities.
• Collaborate with Process Engineering and Equipment Maintenance on process characterizations, equipment conversions, and new parameter development.
• Analyze qualification results from assembly to test, present findings to CAB, and ensure successful release.
• Coordinate with Planning and Production to secure wafers, materials, equipment, and resources for safe launch and full‑scale production.
• Address material‑related issues with suppliers and internal teams, update BOMs, build sheets, and specifications as needed.
