Metering Operations and Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Metering Operations and Maintenance Technician is responsible for field surveys, inspections, installations and rehabilitation of primary and secondary electricity meters. The role supports dispatched work orders and emergency metering activities while ensuring compliance with AP DU metering standards, occupational safety and health regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys and inspections for metering rehabilitation projects.
• Prepare inspection documents such as Meter Inspection Reports.
• Withdraw and use required tools and materials (noise tester, grounding cluster, grip‑all clamp stick, etc.) for safe meter work.
• Execute dispatched work orders for meter installation, rehabilitation and related tasks.
• Install or rehabilitate metering modems when communication is offline.
• Respond to emergency metering calls within prescribed time frames.
• Complete Field Meter Report (FMR) and ensure signatures from customers and crew.
• Plan resource use, develop schedules and coordinate with team members.
• Maintain task monitoring sheets, support 5S initiatives and manage material stock.
• Back‑up colleagues and handle urgent tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Willingness to work on‑site in Bajada and be available for emergency calls.
• Commitment to follow ISO IMS, AMS and other management system requirements.
• Ability to handle tools, equipment and safety procedures safely.
• Attention to detail for accurate reporting and documentation.

Required skills

• Field surveying and meter inspection.
• Primary and secondary meter installation and rehabilitation.
• Use of noise tester, grounding cluster and grip‑all clamp stick.
• Meter modem configuration and offline communication troubleshooting.
• Preparation of Meter Inspection Report (MIR) and Field Meter Report (FMR).
• Knowledge of AP DU metering standards and occupational safety & health standards.
