Compliance Officer – Corporate Governance & Regulatory Compliance

About the role

The Compliance Officer supports the Regulatory Compliance Lead in overseeing the institution’s corporate governance framework and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements. This position plays a key role in policy implementation, compliance advisory, and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a corporate governance framework that complies with laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Monitor and evaluate governance policies, recommending improvements as needed.
• Assist in creating, reviewing, and communicating corporate governance policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular regulatory compliance reviews across business units, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions.
• Support the design and execution of compliance monitoring and gap‑assessment programs.
• Provide expert advice on regulatory matters to management and staff, staying current with regulatory changes.
• Prepare compliance reports for senior management and the board, and maintain accurate records of compliance activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CRCM, CGEIT) preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate governance and regulatory compliance within financial institutions.
• Strong knowledge of corporate governance principles, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
