Trust Legal Officer

About the role

The Trust Legal Officer provides comprehensive legal support to RCBC Trust's trust, investment management and fiduciary businesses. This role ensures regulatory compliance, manages documentation risk, and assists in litigation matters, acting as a key liaison with government agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret applicable laws and regulations, advising on their impact on trust and fiduciary products.
• Draft, revise, and negotiate legal documents, including account opening agreements, loan contracts, and standard trust product agreements.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research, providing opinions on tax matters and client or regulator issues.
• Prepare and file applications with the BIR and Revenue District Office for tax exemptions, registrations, and clearances.
• Assist the Head of Legal Affairs in handling litigation, drafting pleadings, and representing the company in hearings before courts and quasi‑judicial bodies.
• Monitor and respond to garnishment notices, freeze orders, and other court directives.
• Communicate legal and regulatory requirements to clients during meetings.

Required profile

• Law degree with a focus on corporate, trust, or tax law.
• Proven experience in legal support for financial institutions or trust companies.
• Strong understanding of Philippine regulatory frameworks affecting trust and fiduciary services.
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills.
• Ability to work closely with senior legal leadership and external agencies.
