Systems Engineer (Shift Ops) – Enterprise Service Operations

About the role

The Systems Engineer (Shift Ops) in Enterprise Service Operations (ESO) ensures the continuous health and stability of ANZ's critical banking applications. Working 24x7 in a shift‑based environment, you will monitor systems, provide first‑level support, and coordinate incident resolution to keep production services running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage mainframe shift operations, ensuring efficient system performance.
• Monitor application and infrastructure health using central monitoring tools.
• Identify, investigate, and remediate system anomalies or performance issues.
• Execute incident management processes, escalating unresolved problems to appropriate support groups.
• Participate in major incident response, change management, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and communicate status updates to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience working in 24x7 shift environments, preferably with mainframe systems.
• Familiarity with IT Service Management processes, especially incident and major‑incident handling.
• Strong analytical skills to detect and diagnose system issues quickly.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams across the enterprise.
