Legal Collection Officer

About the role

The Legal Collection Officer manages delinquent accounts that have been escalated for legal action. This role coordinates closely with external counsel, monitors litigation progress, and drives recovery strategies to maximize recoveries while ensuring compliance with legal and company policies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor accounts endorsed for legal action.
• Coordinate with external lawyers, law firms, and legal agencies.
• Prepare, review, and endorse legal documents and case folders.
• Track litigation status, demand letters, and court proceedings.
• Ensure timely filing and monitoring of legal actions on delinquent accounts.
• Liaise with internal teams (collections, remedial, credit) for case updates.
• Monitor recovery efforts from settlements and executions.
• Maintain accurate records of legal cases and account status updates.
• Prepare regular reports on legal portfolio status and recoveries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Legal Management, Law, Business, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in collections, legal collections, or credit recovery.
• Experience working with law firms or handling litigation accounts is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of legal processes related to debt recovery.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
• Highly organized and detail‑oriented.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Experience with case tracking systems.
