US Tax Specialist

About the role

FRIDAY is looking for a detail‑oriented US Tax Specialist to manage payroll tax compliance for its small‑business clients. You will work directly with the IRS and state tax agencies, ensuring accurate filing of federal and state payroll tax returns and resolving any tax notices.

Key responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and resolve IRS and state tax notices with professionalism and urgency.
• Communicate directly with tax agencies to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and manage tax‑related issues.
• Prepare, review, and file federal and state payroll tax returns, including forms W‑2, W‑2C, 941, 940, and applicable state filings.
• Handle tax amendments, corrections, reconciliations, and adjustments as needed.
• Maintain clear documentation of all tax communications, filings, and resolutions.
• Stay updated on changes in U.S. payroll tax laws and apply updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve processes and enhance accuracy.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in U.S. payroll tax or payroll compliance.
• Hands‑on experience interacting with the IRS and state tax agencies.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Proven experience preparing and filing payroll tax forms (941, 940, W‑2, W‑2C, state returns).
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
