US Tax Accountant (Midshift) – Remote Independent Contractor

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented US Tax Accountant to join a fully remote tax firm that serves American expatriates. The position is full‑time, independent‑contractor based, and requires a daily 3–4 hour overlap with Israel Standard Time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare U.S. individual tax returns (1040, 1040NR, FBAR) and related schedules for expatriate clients.
• Communicate with clients exclusively via email, answering queries and providing status updates.
• Review and organize client documents to ensure completeness and IRS compliance.
• Maintain high accuracy during peak filing periods while meeting internal deadlines.
• Collaborate with senior reviewers for complex filings and obtain final sign‑off.
• Participate in internal training to deepen expertise in foreign income exclusion, foreign tax credits, and treaty positions.

Required profile

• 1–3+ years of experience preparing U.S. individual tax returns.
• Excellent written English and professional email communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
