US Controller

About the role

We are looking for a US Controller to lead remote accounting teams for growing US companies. The role is 100% remote and operates as a full‑time independent contractor with exclusive commitment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise month‑end close, reconciliations and preparation of financial statements ensuring GAAP compliance.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate accounting staff across multiple client engagements.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues, maintain audit‑ready workpapers and internal controls.
• Present financial results to clients, translate data into actionable business recommendations and manage client expectations.
• Improve accounting workflows, templates and automation in cloud‑based systems (QBO, Xero).
• Support strategic finance activities such as budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and special projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of US accounting experience with at least 3 years in a managerial or director role.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and ability to apply standards to complex transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel / Google Sheets.
• Proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, Xero).
