TB Technical Specialist

About the role

The TB Technical Specialist provides technical assistance to Integrated Delivery of TB Services (iDOTS) facilities within the assigned catchment area, ensuring clinical management of TB patients complies with the latest Department of Health National TB Program guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all presumptive TB individuals from active case finding activities are referred, tested, and initiated on treatment as needed.
• Oversee screening and testing of presumptive TB patients using rapid diagnostic tests such as GeneXpert and TrueNat.
• Facilitate prompt referral of rifampicin‑resistant TB cases from jail or prison facilities.
• Coordinate enrollment of all MTB‑detected patients (DS‑TB and DR‑TB) in the most accessible iDOTS facility.
• Conduct contact tracing for household and close contacts of index cases.
• Support provider‑initiated HIV counseling and testing for TB patients.
• Assist iDOTS facilities with recording and reporting in both physical registers and the Integrated TB Information System (ITIS).
• Manage drug and supply logistics, including adverse drug reaction reporting via the Pharmacovigilance Monitoring System (PViMS).
• Collect and consolidate monthly data from active case finding activities and submit reports to program officers.
• Link iDOTS facilities with TB laboratories, culture and DST services, and routine diagnostic and radiology services.
• Provide guidance to community volunteers and STRiders on TB program implementation.
• Perform administrative tasks such as monthly report submission.

Required profile

• Experience providing technical assistance to TB service delivery points.
• Familiarity with iDOTS processes and national TB program protocols.
• Ability to coordinate with health facilities, laboratories, and local health authorities.
• Strong reporting and data consolidation skills.
