Tax Accountant

About the role

The Tax Accountant will support the Group tax function, ensuring all filing and reporting obligations are met for corporate tax, VAT and employment taxes across the UK and overseas subsidiaries. You will work closely with the wider finance team to gather required information and assist the tax team throughout the compliance cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing UK corporate tax returns and submitting overseas tax returns where applicable.
• Support tax reporting and accounting for the Group and its subsidiaries.
• Review cross‑border taxation requirements, including filing and permanent establishment assessments.
• Prepare quarterly UK VAT returns and review VAT on business costs.
• Handle ad‑hoc queries related to VAT and PAYE, including PAYE settlement calculations.
• Prepare and submit Short Term Business Visitor (STBV) returns.
• Stay up‑to‑date with changes in tax legislation and best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the tax function.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or related field, or equivalent.
• CPA qualification (or equivalent) required; UK‑recognised qualifications such as ATT, CTA, ACCA desirable.
• Experience in UK/US tax accounting, preferably with exposure to UK clients.
• Ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet tight deadlines.
• Working knowledge of IFRS principles and good financial control.

Required skills

• Proficiency with UK accounting software such as Xero, Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc.
• Strong competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of Workday finance system (beneficial).
