About the role

Freelancer.com is looking for a Software Engineer to join its global marketplace platform. You will work on a high‑traffic, data‑driven environment, building features that impact tens of millions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new full‑stack features that serve over 66 million users.
• Build and evolve design systems and improve user experience across web properties.
• Apply machine‑learning and AI techniques to mitigate fraud and unwanted activity.
• Enhance site SEO to acquire users organically.
• Solve web‑scale distributed system challenges and optimise existing services.
• Migrate legacy codebases to modern technologies such as Angular.

Required profile

• Proficient in JavaScript, Python and PHP.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL and preferably MySQL.
• Background or strong interest in engineering web applications at scale.
• Hands‑on experience working in an agile team and shipping features continuously.
• Familiarity with Linux environments.
• Strong sense of ownership, self‑management and a track record of learning new technologies.
• Excellent troubleshooting and creative problem‑solving abilities.
