Software Engineer II (RPG Developer II)

About the role

The Software Engineer II (RPG Developer II) will design, develop, enhance, and support IBM i (AS400) business applications that drive manufacturing, distribution, logistics, and finance operations. This remote position works night‑shift hours to ensure continuous system availability and operational continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain custom RPG applications supporting operational continuity and customer fulfillment.
• Design, develop, and enhance RPG IV, Free‑Form RPG, CL/CLLE programs, SQL queries, DB2 for i databases, and batch processing solutions.
• Provide proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and long‑term corrective actions for production systems.
• Collaborate with ERP, logistics and external partner systems as a technical resource.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, break down epics into stories, refine acceptance criteria and support QA activities.
• Support end‑to‑end manufacturing workflows (order‑to‑cash, inventory, production, shipping, invoicing, financial close) during critical periods.
• Identify and implement system optimization and modernization opportunities.

Required profile

• Proven experience with IBM i (AS400) environments and RPG development.
• Ability to work night‑shift schedule (6 PM – 3 AM PH time) and provide on‑call support.
• Strong analytical skills to translate operational requirements into technical designs.
