Senior Tax Accountant (Remote, Independent Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Senior Tax Accountant to join a growing U.S. CPA firm on an independent‑contractor basis. The role is fully remote and requires exclusive commitment, allowing you to own tax engagements from document collection through review‑ready completion while communicating directly with small‑business and individual clients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare U.S. tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S and occasional 1120 filings.
• Manage each engagement end‑to‑end, gathering documents, analyzing client data, and delivering clean, review‑ready workpapers.
• Communicate with clients to request missing information, clarify details, and provide status updates.
• Track deadlines, flag discrepancies, identify planning opportunities, and keep leadership informed of project status.
• Assist with straightforward individual returns and support limited bookkeeping during non‑peak periods.
• Contribute to process improvements and workflow efficiencies.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ownership and proactive communication style.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to exclusive full‑time engagement as an independent contractor.
• Strong client‑service mindset and attention to detail.

Required skills

• U.S. tax return preparation (Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120).
• Tax documentation analysis and review.
• Basic bookkeeping concepts.
