Senior Construction Estimator

About the role

D2B is looking for an experienced Senior Construction / Building Estimator to support its sales and hire lines of business across modular manufacturing and construction projects. Reporting to the National Estimating Manager, the role leads estimating on complex tenders, working with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Construction to deliver accurate, competitive submissions. It involves fast, accurate pricing, clearly defined scopes of work and seamless integration between factory and site components.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex tenders independently with a high degree of accuracy across the full building scope.
• Prepare detailed construction-level estimates covering structural, architectural, civil, services, preliminaries and site works.
• Complete quantity take-offs and trade breakdowns from construction documentation, BIM models and drawings.
• Develop scopes of work, assumptions registers, exclusions, methodology notes and tender clarifications.
• Identify scope gaps, missing information, trade interfaces and buildability risks, and define the boundary between factory-manufactured and site-based activities.
• Build and structure estimates in CostX, including workbook setup, dimension groups, model mapping and rate build-ups.
• Interpret technical specifications, tender documents and drawings in line with Australian construction standards and NCC requirements.
• Work with Sales, Design, Manufacturing and Construction to create commercially viable submissions, validate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers, and hand over structured estimates to delivery teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of construction estimating experience in commercial, modular or head contractor environments.
• Proven ability to deliver detailed full-building estimates across all major trades.
• Strong site-based construction experience and practical understanding of delivery, subcontractor coordination and methodology.
• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Confident communicator who engages subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders proactively.

Required skills

• Advanced CostX proficiency: workbook setup, dimension groups, model mapping, rate build-ups, templates and first-principles estimating.
• Strong understanding of Australian construction methods, NCC requirements, trade sequencing and buildability.
• Ability to assess incomplete documentation and determine required scope inclusions.
• Strong Autodesk Revit and drawing interpretation.
