Senior Accountant (Remote Bookkeeper)

About the role

A remote Senior Accountant position based in Philippine time (daytime hours), working directly with the client. The role owns day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks, keeps the books up to date and maintains accurate financial records. The advertised pay is up to $2000.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of daily bookkeeping and accounting tasks and keep the books current
• Manage bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online and reconcile credit card and other financial accounts
• Reconcile transactions, identify discrepancies and work closely with Shopify so its transactions are reflected correctly in the books
• Assist with inventory bookkeeping and reconciliation, and help prepare financial information ahead of tax deadlines
• Assist with sales tax calculations, filings and remittance where applicable
• Proactively spot bookkeeping issues, keep documentation organised and communicate financial information clearly

Required profile

• Several years of professional bookkeeping/accounting experience, including managing books for a US or other Western company
• Strong Shopify bookkeeping experience (tools such as Link My Books); Shopify is the primary e-commerce platform
• Experience with reconciliations, transaction categorisation and inventory bookkeeping
• Experience with US sales tax is a strong plus; accounting credentials are a plus
• Excellent written and spoken English, able to explain accounting concepts simply and respond quickly
• Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently within agreed working hours
