Senior Accountant & Accounting Team Lead

About the role

Join a remote‑first bookkeeping and advisory firm that serves around 60 businesses across diverse industries. As the Senior Accountant & Accounting Team Lead, you will become the first true middle‑management layer, bridging the owner and a small team of junior accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform final financial review and quality assurance for roughly 60 client accounts each month.
• Oversee month‑end close processes, ensuring all books are complete, accurate, and delivered on schedule.
• Lead, coach, and coordinate a team of 2–3 junior accountants, fostering technical excellence and consistent standards.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in reconciliations, coding, and general ledger activity.
• Document processes, create structure, and close operational gaps to improve workflow efficiency.

Required profile

• Strong accounting background with a clear understanding of clean, accurate books.
• Ability to critically review financials and spot issues before client delivery.
• Experience leading junior accountants while maintaining high technical standards.
• Independent decision‑making skills with good judgment on escalation.
• Excellent remote communication and organizational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience using Double (formerly Keeper) for bookkeeping project management.
