Project Manager – Data Science Projects

About the role

Thinking Machines is looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of data‑science and AI projects for large organisations across Southeast Asia. You will act as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on scope, and with high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, communicating milestones, blockers, and changes promptly.
• Own project schedules, requirements backlogs, and to‑do lists, coordinating internal and client resources.
• Break down vague or large requests into clear, actionable tasks for the delivery team.
• Consolidate information from multiple stakeholders and define concrete next steps.
• Establish and continuously improve project workflows and best‑practice documentation.
• Create protocols, remove blockers, and manage risks to keep the team operating efficiently.
• Maintain strong rapport with project teams, keeping motivation high and preventing burnout.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience managing data‑science, AI, or technology‑consulting projects.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working with cross‑functional internal and client teams.
• Ability to document processes and codify best practices.
• Comfortable pushing back on scope or timelines when necessary to protect project success.
