About the role

The Project Inspector (Geotechnical) supports the execution of dam and hydropower projects by performing on‑site inspections, geotechnical observations, instrumentation monitoring, and reporting. The role ensures that earthworks, ground treatment, shaft excavation, dewatering, and diaphragm wall activities are carried out safely and in full compliance with approved designs, specifications, and standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Implement project‑specific HSE requirements for shaft excavation, earthworks, dewatering, ground treatment, and diaphragm wall construction.
  • Identify and control geotechnical hazards such as confined spaces, groundwater, instability, and blasting.
  • Coordinate risk assessments, method statements, and permit‑to‑work systems with HSE officers and contractors.
  • Inspect shaft excavation, supports, earthworks, ground treatment, dewatering, and diaphragm wall works against drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor performance, workmanship quality, and geotechnical performance; report non‑conformances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Witness testing and inspections of geotechnical‑related works and participate in safety orientations and toolbox meetings.
  • Prepare daily and weekly inspection reports, field records, NCRs, and corrective‑action documentation.
  • Support the preparation of completion and hand‑over documents and maintain traceable inspection records.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in hydropower or large‑scale underground infrastructure projects.
  • At least 3–5 years of direct geotechnical and civil experience in construction supervision or inspection of power‑station shafts, access shafts, or underground caverns.
  • Proven experience with shaft excavation methods such as drill‑and‑blast, raise boring, and mechanized excavation.
