Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Pharmacy Data Entry Specialist to ensure accurate and efficient processing of prescription orders, refills, and patient information. This role supports safe pharmacy operations by maintaining precise records and complying with confidentiality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Enter prescription orders, refills, medication changes, and patient data into the pharmacy management system.
• Review incoming prescriptions for completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
• Process orders from e‑prescriptions, faxes, eMAR systems, facility portals, and other approved sources.
• Update patient profiles, including demographics, allergies, insurance, and prescriber details.
• Identify incomplete or conflicting information and coordinate with pharmacists for clarification.
• Prioritize urgent medication requests and maintain accurate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and pharmacy confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• Strong typing accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret prescription orders and medication directions.
• Basic knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication strengths, dosage forms, and sig codes.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and willingness to learn pharmacy software.

Required skills

• Familiarity with eMAR systems (e.g., QuickMAR, PointClickCare, MatrixCare).
• Experience handling electronic prescriptions, faxed orders, and facility medication orders.
• Basic computer application skills.
