National Material Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The National Material Quantity Surveyor will analyse construction plans and specifications to produce accurate material quantity takeoffs, focusing on flooring and related components. This position supports sales and project teams by delivering precise estimates on time and in line with company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans to generate detailed material quantity estimates for all design stages.
• Prepare comprehensive takeoffs for flooring, trims, transitions and associated materials, ensuring completeness without pricing labor.
• Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify plan ambiguities for sales, architects or contractors.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and suggest material optimisation strategies.
• Perform self‑review and participate in a two‑level review process with local Team Lead and U.S. Senior Estimator.
• Maintain compliance with National Estimating Standards and company documentation procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2‑5 years of experience in quantity surveying, material takeoffs or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret U.S. construction plans.
• Strong analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with imperial measurements.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with estimating software (training will be provided).
