Microfinance Officer (Project Staff)

About the role

The Microfinance Officer will lead community organization efforts within the transportation and logistics sector through the Wheels to Work initiative. The role blends operational management, financial assessment, education and community engagement to help participants generate income, mobilise savings and develop social enterprises.

Key responsibilities

• Market and promote the Wheels to Work project.
• Recruit, select and organise program beneficiaries.
• Assess loan applications, conduct background checks and endorse qualified loans for manager approval.
• Assist partners throughout loan processing to release.
• Conduct loan utilisation checks.
• Collect loan amortisation payments on time and remit to the office.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all transactions.
• Monitor market conditions and provide feedback to management.
• Build and sustain a network of community partners for mobilisation.
• Participate in the integrated community development programme of GNI Philippines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Cooperatives, Cooperative Management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing or Microfinance (preferred but not required).
• Relevant experience in micro‑finance or community development, preferably with an international NGO.
• Strong discipline in loan processing, payment collection and savings mobilisation.
• Knowledge of group formation, community organising and basic training delivery.
• Leadership ability for staff and community mobilisation.
• Basic math, analytical and office‑management skills.
• Experience conducting basic group operations and financial audits.
